Program Description & Curriculum Philosophy

Little Sprouts Child Care is an early childhood education family home child care offering half-day and full-day enrichment programs for children ages 2 years through 13 years. We are located in Kingsgate of Kirkland. Our classrooms are deliberate and carefully designed, especially each learning center, with specific materials and learning purposes to allow children to explore and learn independently. We follow the child’s lead by implementing an emergent learning curriculum that encourages each child to learn about the world around them through exploration, discovery, and imagination. Our curriculum focuses on creating opportunities for children to develop meaningful experiences through self-directed play and hands-on learning. All that while, classroom activities align with developmentally appropriate learning objectives set forth by The Creative Curriculum.

Children that attend Little Sprouts Child Care are ready for kindergarten when they are age appropriate to attend public or private school. In addition to projects and learning centers, Little Sprouts Child Care also believes in the importance and power of learning through play. Play is necessary for the maturation of all areas of learning and development. Through play, children develop interpersonal relationships, the ability to work cooperatively, and the ability to solve conflicts. It also improves hand-eye coordination and both small and large muscle development. Children learn to express their feelings, cope, be creative, and enjoy learning. Children also develop various cognitive processes such as predicting, classifying, and observing, as well as learning new concepts. Research shows that play is necessary for the development of language, which promotes future success in reading and writing. This is why we consider it an important learning tool in our program and curriculum. At Little Sprouts Child Care, we pride ourselves on providing quality education, knowledge, and a shared philosophy that parents are their children’s first teachers and together we form a partnership to build the foundation of their lifelong education.
